"Courage is fighting for what you believe in. Cowardice is failing to fight for your beliefs." Brilliantly stated. I also like the discussion on fear. I keep turning over this idea of how fear is the opposite of love and therefore the enemy in so many ways, and yet fear is the first glimmer of intelligence. Not knowing what to fear will get you killed. I've observed this with the outdoor cats I've had over the years. Never heard of Thom Jones. Thanks for the introduction.

Thanks writing. We had an outdoor cat who was fearless. She was not an outdoor cat until I took he with me to see family on the farm in Iowa, just for a weekend. After that she insisted on going on when she had a chance--chased squirrels, climbed screen doors, all of that. We kept her on a string and limited her range, but still, she was tirelessly adventurous. Luckily she died inside, peacefully, of old age. The next cat never was allowed beyond the screen porch. He would chatter his jaws (if that is the right word) when he saw birds on the lawn, but the sound of trucks in the alley terrified him. Looking outside was enough for him. Much easier to manage.
